Owner's must have changed. Food is not the same or as good as it was before

Best Chinese Food in Port Alberni. It is always fresh and cooked well. They don't cook large amounts like some restaurants do so one can always enjoy fresh cooked food. I have been dining here for years and when I go somewhere else for Chinese food., I always regret it. One thing I hate when I go to another Chinese Restaurant and that is, most of the time, the food all tastes the same.. This never happens at the Yellow River..

They put BBQ duck on their Friday buffet

Veggie chop suey was fresh and had a good variety of veggies. Lemon chicken was over deep-fried balls in very little sauce. Szechuan chicken was deep fried and too sweet. Delivery took an hour, not the promised 30 min.

I'm torn. Because the food was so delicious. The chicken was crispy on the outside, but perfectly tender on the inside, and the chow mein was not greasy at all! But... we waited 2 hours to receive our food. This was because we were paying debit.So my suggestion if you plan on ordering from here, have cash or be prepared to wait a ridiculously long time for delivery.We were given 15% off our order, but I had to barter for it

Really great! We did takeaway, everything was fresh and hot. Very friendly at the front as well. I loved the beef chop suey, lemon chicken, and chicken Chow mein!

A nice little place to have lunch and dinner. The food are really good, especially their smorgasbord, also they don't add any MSG to their food which is a plus.

Best Chinese/Vietnamese food and service I've had in years! Hands down!

Food was good and fresh.. Service wasn't up to par. Simple thing as 4 people to a table and only 3 glasses. 30 minutes in I had to ask for a glass of water and I was given a refilled empty glass that was already on the table. Good thing it was a family member whom left already, but really? C'mon.

Grocery stores have better Chinese food.

Always no what your getting

The variety of food was not very big which is the only reason for 4 stars. The service and quality of food was excellent! They only bring out small amounts of food and make sure it is made freshly constantly. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive.

We went here on Easter and to Our surprise they were open as we didn't have a kitchen to cook in because we are doing kitchen reno it was great to find something available. Staff was very great and pleasant.

Love the buffet

A good buffet for Port Alberni. There's about 12 main items which are cooked in small batches so everything is usually fresh. Every time we visit Port Alberni we come here for dinner. One of the better chinese restaurants here.

Buffet is good when it's kept up. Suggestion from worker is to call ahead if a group of more than 3 is coming for buffet. Service is really good.

Really good. The batter was crisp. The veg had just the right crunch. All the flavours were bang on. Good Chinese food.

Had take out delivered. Arrived on time, fresh and hot. They’d get 5 stars if the almond chicken actually came with almonds, it came with peanuts. Everything tasted good though. I’d order from them again.

Came here on vacation from the mainland with my partner and 5 kids. The place was very nice and clean inside, service was great and prices were very fair especially for childens buffet. Anything that was needed was cooked and served right away.
